SIT to host open day and recruitment fair on Friday

A class in progress at the SIT

The Seychelles Institute of Technology (SIT) will open its doors to the general public, parents, secondary school students, learners from other professional centres and its partners in industry on Friday November 15, 2019 at Providence Industrial Estate, from 9am to 2.30pm.

The day will also coincide with the SIT Job Recruitment Fair.

The Open Day is aimed at showcasing the activities that are undertaken at SIT on a normal training day. Visitors will have the opportunity to observe practical activities in both the workshops and around the campus by learners on the different programmes.

The Job Fair is where government ministries, organisations and private businesses are invited to meet with the SIT graduates. This comprises sharing of vacancies existing in their businesses and potential recruitment opportunities when they complete their training in December.

SIT has been implementing a number of measures to achieve the different objectives found in its new Strategic Plan 2019-2023. This working document includes a new vision and mission statement, a newly improved logo and a new motto. As a Unesco-Unevoc recognised training provider, SIT was also confirmed by the same international organisation as ‘A Skills for Innovation hub (I-hub) Project Partner’ earlier this year.

The theme for the Open Day, ‘SIT in action’, remains the same as it has been over the previous years, to remind all potential learners and the general public that SIT is THE Professional Centre which leads learners to acquire employable practical skills, as well as expertise and understanding in the different domains of Engineering, Built Environment and Telecommunication, including renewable energy.

On the day, there will also be sale of wooden and metallic items made in the carpentry and mechanical engineering workshops.

Students and the general public are cordially invited to the SIT Open Day.
