Natcof members meet President Faure

Committee members of the National Consumer’s Forum (Natcof) met President Danny Faure yesterday morning at State House.

“We called on President Faure because we had some concerns and we took the opportunity to discuss with him some of our main issues and we think that through these discussions, the President will extend his support and guidance for us to be able to move forward,” said Freddy Lesperance, chairperson of Natcof.

It should be noted that in the past many people have complained about how Natcof is incompetent when it comes to cases that are reported by consumers.

Mr Lesperance remarked that the function of Natcof is to give guidance and push consumers’ cases forward to the Fair Trading Commission (FTC) because the latter has the authority to take action.

“The purpose of Natcof is to guide and support consumers, as we report cases to FTC then we follow up on it and then get back to the complainant,” said Mr Lesperance.

Following the discussions with the President, a press conference will be organised to inform the public about the new changes that Natcof will be implementing, among which is the introduction of an interactive app.

Overall 20 cases have been received this year by Natcof and they have been referred to the FTC.
