EU ambassador calls on foreign affairs principal secretary |10 October 2019

The newly accredited Ambassador to the European Union, Vincent Degert called on the principal secretary for foreign affairs, Dr Marina Confait yesterday at the Maison Quéau de Quinssy.

Dr Confait congratulated the ambassador on his appointment and expressed the government’s appreciation for the warm relationship with the European Union since the establishment of relations in June 1977.

The key point of discussion was the upcoming seventh Seychelles-European Union political dialogue which will take place on November 28, 2019.

During the meeting, both parties discussed the many ongoing projects that are being supported by the European Union and Ambassador Degert further confirmed their support and willingness to enhance cooperation in various sectors/projects namely, maritime security, climate change, fight against drugs, among others.

Dr Confait concluded the meeting in saying “today as we reflect on the relationship between Seychelles and the European Union, I am hopeful that both parties will continue to engage actively on matters of shared interest, so that we may achieve our common ambitions.”
