Victoria 250 years - On October 8, 1918 |08 October 2019

On October 8, 1918, Sir Eustace Edward Twistleton Wykeham Fiennes (1864-1943) arrived in Seychelles to take up the post of Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the Colony. His salary was R18,000 per annum. He left in 1922. During his tenure, he initiated various Social Welfare Schemes and built the Fiennes Institute at Plaisance and the Fiennes Esplanade.
