League title deciders tomorrow

The destiny of this year’s Mohan Shopping Center-sponsored men’s and women’s league titles is set to be decided tomorrow at Palais des Sports.

The male contenders are Durantha Brothers and Super 8, while the female challengers are Au Cap Sisters and MF Storm.

Still unbeaten with six wins and a draw, Durantha Brothers remain on track to defend their title won last year as they lead the five-man league table with 20 points. As for Super 8, they have won six games and lost one. They lie in second position on the table with 19 points.

In case of a win or a draw for Durantha Brothers, they will be declared the champions and will retain their title for a third year in a row. A loss for Durantha Brothers will see Super 8 crowned the new champions.

As for the women’s league title, unbeaten MF Storm are leading with 21 points compared to 19 points for Au Cap Sisters who are in second position on the five-team table.

MF Storm won their first round match against the same Au Cap Sisters by a score of 24-17, which is a difference of seven goals. If they beat Au Cap Sisters again this Saturday they will dethrone the latter to become the new champions. On the other hand, Au Cap Sisters have to beat MF Storm by more than seven goals to retain their title won last year.

Speaking over the phone to Sports NATION, MF Storm and Super 8 head coach Danny Philoé and Freddy Annette of Au Cap Sisters and Durantha Brothers both said their matches on Saturday will be “tough and difficult”.

They both added that since their teams are free from injuries, they will be all out to win the titles.

In handball, teams collect three points for a win, two points for a draw, one point for a loss and zero point for a walkover.
