Members of the Seychelles National Youth Assembly have taken part in an education session to better acquaint themselves and broaden their understanding of the fourth National Youth Policy.

The session took place on Saturday morning at the Seychelles National Youth Council office in Victoria.

The fourth National Youth Policy document was launched in June this year. It provides a framework with a list of strategies aimed at fostering the development and helping the youth of Seychelles prosper and succeed in their lives.

“Our aim is to bring the content of the policy to the target group which is the youth and partners who will be carrying its different components,” said Merna Albert, senior policy analyst of the youth and sport department.

She added that they are working first with the Seychelles National Youth Assembly (SNYA) members because they are the ones representing the youth and they need to have in-depth knowledge of the policy and what it contains and after the workshop they will be able to include the policy as a tool that they will use during their deliberations.

“The youth of Seychelles are positive elements who bring about positive change, the National Youth Policy of Seychelles highlights the priorities and strategies to be adopted by government and stakeholders to ensure the development and empowerment of our youth,” said Ms Albert.

The series of education and learning sessions will involve all key partners who work with the youth, civil society bodies as well as secondary schools and professional centres.
