ESA organises entrepreneurship retreat

Mr Roselie addressing the gathering

It is never too early to become successful in life. In this age of Internet and technology, young people are now more confident to try and sell their ideas and hit the road to success.

With just basic skills like knowing how to create a website and marketing products online today, young entrepreneurs can reach out to the world and showcase their talent.

As part of the continued activities to mark the World Entrepreneurs Day, the Enterprise Seychelles Agency (ESA) organised an entrepreneurship retreat for students yesterday at the ICCS in Victoria.

The retreat included a series of presentations on entrepreneurship from various people in the industry including the principal secretary for industry and entrepreneurship, Angelique Antat; Peter Roselie; Nella Belmont and Oliver Bastienne.

“There are many areas that we feel entrepreneurs have weakness in, we are looking at topics important in entrepreneurship one of which being psychology idea on the market which looks at how to put out a product that is original as well as a necessity, the second model looks at time management where entrepreneurs will learn about delivering their product on time as promised, the third one being business leadership where they will learn managing their business,” said Mr Roselie, coordinator of entrepreneurship week.

Mr Roselie added that in order to give out as much information as possible they have partnered with various entities like lecturers from The Guy Morel Institute.

“I hope that the participants pick up the various issues and diversify their businesses instead of staying in a field that is saturated,” said Mr Roselie.

Throughout the retreat many participants were able to ask the facilitators questions as well as advice. They also gave their perspective on entrepreneurship in Seychelles and what can be done to improve it.
