Maldivian president  lands in Seychelles

President Solih and First Lady Ahmed with Minister Mondon in the airport’s VIP lounge shortly after their arrival

His Excellency Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, the seventh President of the Republic of Maldives and First Lady Fazna Ahmed arrived in the country yesterday morning for a two-day State visit.

President Solih, accompanied by First Lady Ahmed and a delegation of senior Maldivian government officials, arrived onboard an Emirates flight at precisely 6.41am where they were greeted by a motorcade welcome to the VIP lounge as opposed to a customary red carpet welcome on account of heavy rains and wind.

Present to welcome the President and his delegation on his visit were Designated Minister Macsuzy Mondon, secretary of state for Foreign Affairs and the Blue Economy Barry Faure, secretary of state for Cabinet Affairs Mohamed Afif as well as His Excellency Vladimir Belous, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation and Dean of Diplomatic Corps.

President Solih and his delegation were also welcomed to Seychelles by the principal secretary for foreign affairs Dr Marina Confait and the honorary consul for the Republic of Maldives to the Republic of Seychelles Lambert Bonne.

Following an exchange of pleasantries with Minister Mondon at the airport, President Solih proceeded to his Presidential duties including meeting with the President of the Republic of Seychelles Danny Faure as well as other Presidential engagements (see separate story).
