Sylvestre Radegonde accredited Seychelles’ ambassador to Russia |01 August 2019
Seychelles’ Paris-based ambassador, Sylvestre Radegonde, recently presented his credentials to the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, accrediting him as Seychelles’ ambassador to Russia.
Ambassador Radegonde conveyed to President Putin the best wishes of President Danny Faure and his desire to further the existing strong ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
President Putin expressed his satisfaction with the state of our bilateral relations, particularly in the growing exchanges in tourism and our joint effort in combatting piracy.
He looks forward to having discussions with President Faure at the first Russia-Africa Economic Forum in Sochi in October and for exploring areas to broaden and deepen the relations between Russia and Seychelles.
In discussions between Ambassador Radegonde and senior officials of the Russian Foreign Ministry, including the Vice-Foreign Minister, Mikhael Bogdanov, the excellence of the bilateral relations was highlighted as well as the need to diversify them.
The important role of the increasing number of Russian investors play in the Seychelles economy was also highlighted.
Russia remains committed to offering Seychelles scholarships in higher education institutions based on our national needs and priorities.
Other areas of discussions included trade, maritime security, inter-parliamentary contacts, among others.
