New office bearers of the Seychelles Centennial Women Lions Club (SCWLC) for the year 2019-2020 were officially inducted early this month at the Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay Resort & Casino.

The new president is Kalaichelvi Karunakaran, secretary Abirami Saravanan and treasurer Manjaru Gohel. The first, second and third vice-presidents are Linetta Estico, Ruth Mohotti and Anitha Raj Kannan respectively.

New members were also sworn in during the night in the presence of Lions and members of sister clubs including the Lions Club of Seychelles, the Melvyn Jones Foundation and the Rising Lions

On that occasion the outgoing president, Uma Ramani, thanked all the sponsors, communities and friends who helped the SCWLC to realise its community projects.

“Once again our club’s main projects were geared towards making our schools better. The SCWLC has assisted five schools financially to set up their school gardens and we successfully inaugurated the gardens in some of the primary and secondary schools. We completed the year with a lovely Spelling Bee programme. We also cared for the elderly. I am grateful for all the support I received as president of the club and the SCWLC will continue to contribute to the welfare of the society,” said Mrs Ramani.

The new president of the club, Mrs Karunakaran, also said that the SCWLC will continue on the same path and invite the community to support them.

The SCWLC has been in existence since June 2016 and the Club and its 31 women members are here to make a difference. They also invited all women who want to serve the community to join the club.

The evening ended with some games and a sumptuous dinner.
