On life’s highway

You have travelled far and wide

On the global map

Your name has been forever imprinted

A man of peace with ‘Peace of Mind’

Philosopher, author, poet, mentor, patron, friend to all

Our Lord took you home

In the most gentle way

In the tranquillity and serenity of a new dawn

While your soul was at peace.

In all His infinite wisdom

He understood you were not yet ready to depart

So many dreams still to be materialised

So many new ventures on the horizon

So many words yet to be penned down

Books to be written.

Alas! Our earthly plans

Do not always correspond to His agenda

Thus when he called you Home

He ensured you were in total repose

So that in that final instance

When he sent his angels down

To greet you on the final leg of your journey

You would do so, as you lived

In your own humble and charismatic stance.

And as you said farewell to this world

You leave behind, we know,

Your optimism for a perfect world

Your hope for a united Seychelles

The country you so much adored

And as you look upon us now

From our Lord’s enchanted garden

Be comforted by the thought

That you are gone

But will never be forgotten

Your legacy a constant reminder

Of the great statesman and Apostle of Peace

That you really were
