11th Christmas Carols show - ‘Follow the star’ |24 December 2016

Audiences were guided to our Saviour’s Jesus Christ birth during the annual Christmas Carols Show, now in its 11th year, organised by the President’s Office.

It was held yesterday evening at the International Conference Centre of Seychelles (ICCS).

Present during the show entitled ‘Follow the Star’ (Swiv sa zetwal) were President Danny Faure, Vice-President Vincent Meriton, founding President James Mancham, ministers, distinguished guests, parents and children.

The excitement could be felt buzzing in the air as the children enthralled the audience with moving melodies of Christmas Carols.

The show started with a beautiful performance of ‘The First Noel’ by the Independent school choir followed by ‘Away in a manger’ and ‘Baby Jesus we love you’.

Foyer de la Providence sang Noel des enfants du monde, ‘Jingle Bells’ while Au Cap school choir presented ‘Up on the housetop’, ‘Little drummer boy’ and ‘Deck the halls’.

A guitar group with a young keyboardist set up by the artistic director of the show Bennet Accouche spiced up the evening with the acoustics and drumbeats of ‘Jingle Bells’ rock.

Foyer de la Solitude sang ‘Frosty the snowman’ and ‘Mon beau sapin’ while the National School Choir performed ‘Like a candle flame’, ‘Mary’s boy child’ and ‘Douce nui’t.

There was also an appearance of a guest artist, Jade du Preez, who sang ‘O holy night’ accompanied by One Harmony Choir.

There were special performances from the boys of Foyer de Nazareth with ‘When Santa got stuck up the chimney’ and ‘Noel nariv ankor’ following President's Village interpretation of ‘We three kings’ and ‘Feliz Navidad’.

One Harmony Choir came back on stage with ‘Le petit garçon’, ‘Winter wonderland’, ‘Zwaye Noel Bonn Ane’.

During the ceremony gifts were presented to all children of the eight choirs and the guitar group by President Faure followed by a souvenir photo with Santa Claus and Mr Accouche.

Words of reflection written by La Rosière students were also read out throughout the show to inspire the joy of sharing and peace during this festive season.

The final performance was a medley by all of the children who took part in the show.
