SCCI delegation meets President Faure |26 October 2016

President Danny Faure yesterday met a delegation from the Seychelles Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) led by its chairman Wilson Nancy.

The meeting took place at the State House.

Speaking to the media after the encounter, Mr Nancy said during the deliberations they learned more about President Faure’s new approach and that the SCCI will become the principal organisation whose focus will be the private sector.

“We discussed the importance of the chamber of commerce to the government and the President wants to see one chamber. Instead of different lobby groups, we will all channel the private sector into the SCCI and the economic advisor to the President, Bertrand Belle, has been designated our focus person,” he said.

He encouraged more of their members to bring forward the problems and issues that they have in their business and business community so that SCCI can help push these forward and eventually make Seychelles a better place to do business.

“We need to ensure that Seychelles is the place where businessmen want to and love doing business and to make this happen the President has made a commitment to remove all the red tape which we feel exist. But we acknowledge that some will be easily dealt with while others will take more time,” he said.

Mr Nancy pointed out that they have a fully packed agenda and they will tackle it as fast as possible so that by next week they will bring their proposals forward for the government to consider.
