Seychelles Breweries is on Trop-X! |01 July 2016

Local brewery, Seychelles Breweries Limited, has achieved an important milestone in its history. The company has gone live on the Trop-X Stock Exchange.

This was during a ceremony at the Trop-X office at Eden Island yesterday in the presence of Seychelles Breweries managing director Nick Cook, Bobby Brentley Jr., chief executive of Trop-X, sponsors, officials and staff of both organisations.

As is customary where the opening and closing bells mark the beginning and the end of each trading day, a bell was rung before beginning the ceremony.

Mr Bentley said SeyBrew forms part of the fabric of the Seychelles society and therefore is very fitting to be on Trop-X.

Trop-X (Seychelles) Limited is part of the Quote Africa group of companies which includes Trop-X Limited (licensed Seychelles Securities Exchange), AfriClear Limited (Seychelles Clearing Agency) and AfriDep (Seychelles Securities Facility.  Trop-X has launched a multi-asset, multi-currency modern financial exchange beginning with the launch of the equities boards in the fourth quarter of 2012. Institutional and retail investors from around the world have the opportunity to trade a variety of asset classes including listed equities, debt instruments, futures, options, ETFs, derivative products and more with the security of top rated and internationally recognised participant banks all from one exchange.

Describing it as a very important day for Seychelles Breweries which is something he is excited about, MD Cook said he has two main reasons to support his statement.

“It is very exciting to be on Trop-X for three big reasons. For the shareholders it’s good for them, for the value and the flexibility. Secondly it is a big performance indicator for our business and I have a strong passion to make it one of the best performance businesses which I know we can do it and thirdly is about supporting Seychelles.

“We are a local company, we make local products which are of superb quality. And for us it is very right to be the biggest drinks manufacturing listed on Trop-X,” said Mr Cook.

Going into more details about being on Trop-X, Mr Cook said the shareholders will have significant flexibility to be able to trade by themselves.

Regarding making Seychelles Breweries the best performing companies in Seychelles, Mr Cook said the company has every opportunity to do that. And as a local company it makes local products and support its team in their growth and development of local people as they make significant contribution to the local company. Therefore it makes perfect match to make sure Seychelles Breweries is listed on the local company.

Mr Cook added Seychelles Breweries had a difficult year so far, had had some time to rectify that and the future looks very bright for the company as it makes the best beer in Seychelles.

“SeyBrew, in particular, is the freshest, best tasting beer in Seychelles. I ask everybody to support us, to support local businesses in buying local products so we continue to get it right and give back that value to our shareholders,” urged Mr Cook.
