Demonstration, photo exhibition mark IDY 2016 in Seychelles
As Seychelles celebrated the 2nd International Day of Yoga (IDY), select invitees were treated to a captivating display of yoga postures by Aashima Malhotra, a yoga expert specially flown in from India for the occasion.
After conducting a well-attended mass yoga session at Palais des Sports on Sunday June 19 in the morning, she performed a yoga demonstration at the Vivekananda Yoga Club of the Indian high commission the same evening to an appreciative audience, primarily comprising yoga practitioners and enthusiasts in Seychelles.
A photo exhibition on the theme ‘Yoga: An Ancient Science of Life’ by celebrity photographer and art historian Benoy Behl was also held at the Vivekananda Yoga Club to mark the occasion.
Aashima’s demonstration was accompanied by a description of the benefits of each of the asanas (postures) on not only physical health but also mental well-being of the individual. The yoga demonstration depicted many of the postures on display in the photo exhibition.
This exclusive event was jointly organised by the Indian high commission and the Ministry of Tourism and Culture.
