Staff from various work places have received their certificates after completing a course in financial services at the University of Seychelles’ (Unisey) Guy Morel Institute at Ma Joie.

The Achievements and Introductory Certificate in Financial Services course was organised by the UniSey in collaboration with SAOPRA (Seychelles Association of Offshore Practitioners), an independent organisation representing 49 members of the Registered Agents and 1 insurance company operating in the Seychelles.

The certificate presentation ceremony was attended by the Minister for Finance, Trade and the Blue Economy Jean-Paul Adam; dean of the Guy Morel Institute Shella Mohideen; financial services programme coordinator at UniSey Isaac Lelgo,  and partners.

Minister Adam also presented certificates to partners who have contributed towards the success of the course who were mainly lecturers and facilitators.

During the event Mrs Mohideen presented the best performing student with a full scholarship to follow a specialisation course at the UniSey. This went to Maymina Yusuf.

“I hope this fruitful collaboration will continue in the future,” said Mrs Mohideen.

SAOPRA also offered two sponsorships for best students who self-sponsored their course and came out quite distinctively. The two lucky winners were Juliette Insenga and Karen Dubignon. They will follow such course at a higher level.

Mr Lelgo said the course consisted of four modules and thanked stakeholders for their contribution. As for the future he said the institute will continue working with stakeholders to develop more specialisation courses which will cover four modules -- Company Administration, Trust and Foundations Administration, Compliance and Security Registration.

Tatiana Balabadour of SAOPRA said the association tries to develop and tailor courses to international specifics but adjust them to Seychelles environment. It will offer two new courses in anti-money laundering and company registration. She also informed those represent that the courses are more affordable than any international ones although they are of the same standard.

“We look forward to other specialisation courses to grow together,” said Ms Balabanour.

In her vote of thanks Ms Yusuf thanked all for the knowledge and skills acquired during the course and which are needed in their field of work.

She also thanked the facilitators for their achievements.

“Cease to learn when cease to live,” she urged all.
