Letter to the Editor - Reaction to article on Pirates Arms in Today’s newspaper |13 February 2016

The article in the Today in Seychelles newspaper of February 12, 2016 regarding the closure of Pirates Arms restaurant is referred to.

This is to inform you that the decision to close down Pirates Arm restaurant was made purely on technical grounds by the Public Health Authority. It was not malicious and not done on instruction from any other parties or authority. The Food Control Act provides adequate provisions for such decisions. The situation in Pirates Arms restaurant has been deteriorating and up to the time of closure temporary fixes had allowed it to continue operations. Other referral agencies in the country have also been expressing concerns about the worsening situation at the said restaurant. The Pirates Arms restaurant management has been issued with reports outlining these concerns before.

For your information, this is the third restaurant that has been instructed to close down for sanitary reasons in the last two months or so.
