R&B Italian singer wants to promote Seychelles in Italy |07 January 2016

Farried Dufrene, an Italian singer of Seychellois descent, is in Seychelles to visit family and familiarise himself with Seychellois music.

Farried, who goes by the stage name Jason Royal, is an R&B/Hip-Hop artist, song writer, actor and entertainer.

Raised in Italy, Farried is accompanied on his trip by his mother Jourdane Dufrene, brother Vahid Jean and girlfriend Silvia Galletti.

Farried comes from a family that is passionate about music, and he is the grandson of Andrea Dufrene who composed the song ‘Ferdinand’.

The talented artist has already got one album called ‘The Out of Time’ produced in Italy. He started to sing around the age of seven years old. He attended the Voice Academy in 2004, at the same time he started to sing in some local clubs as a singer. He also got the opportunity to open acts of many international Hip-Hop and R&B artists such as Snoop Dog, Tyga, T-pain and many more.

“I always wanted to be able to contribute my experience that I have gained during my time in Italy to the Seychellois music community,” he said very proudly.

He added that he was inspired to start a career in music due to the fact that he came from a background of musicians in his family.

“I was inspired by grandfather Andrea Dufrene who was also a singer, that gave me the confidence and ability to share my voice with the world,” he added.

He pointed out that since he came to Seychelles, he started to make some contacts with other Seychellois musicians to promote his music.

“I’ve started to get in contact with local musicians like Alain Bacco, trying to promote my music to the wider Seychellois community. I also have a meeting with the Minister for Tourism and Culture Alain St Ange to discuss about the possibility of promoting Seychelles in Italy by using my songs,” he said.

He also stated that he prefers Seychellois music to Italian “because Italian music is old fashioned”.

He noted that Seychellois musicians are doing some really great work by being able to create some good beats.

“In Italy I am the only one doing R&B music, which shows that I want to make a difference in Italy, and also make a difference in Seychelles by being able to have the opportunity to sing with a Seychellois musician,” he said.
