CWS introduces eco-friendly bags |01 December 2015

Eco-friendly bags are a great alternative to disposable plastic bags. Each year billions of plastic bags end up as unattractive waste in Victoria. Plastic bags eventually break down into tiny toxic bits polluting our soil and oceans. Eco- friendly bags are not only reusable, but are made from recycled materials.

This is why Cable & Wireless Seychelles (CWS) has recently introduced new eco-friendly bags to promote a more eco-friendly environment in Seychelles.

The introduction of the eco-friendly bags took place at the Sunshine House, Providence last week in the presence of the principal secretary for environment Alain Decommarmond, the CWS marketing communications manager Muriel Morgan, CWS staff, among other guests.

PS Decommarmond stated that by next year their goal is to eliminate all plastic bags in Seychelles.

“By next year our goal is to tackle the plastic bag dilemma that is becoming a menace to the environment. We want to ban all plastic bags. This project will materialise by next year and hopefully we will all be using eco-friendly bags,” he said.

He added that CWS has always been a keen supporter of the environment and other projects and said he hopes that other businesses will “follow this innovative idea that will benefit all of us in the years to come”.

“We need to find solution for electronic waste; we need to come up with strategic ideas on how to tackle electronic waste,” PS Decommarmond said.

A representative from CWS, Albert Duncan, stated that this eco-friendly bag will be available this month on the Cable Points Catalogue and customers can also purchase the eco bags while buying a CWS product.

Ms Morgan also presented some eco-friendly bags to PS Decommarmond.

These eco-friendly bags are 100% bio-degradable and can last for one year.
