Saviona Isaac chosen as One Young World ambassador |28 November 2015

‘One Young World’, a London based non-profit organisation founded in 2019 and which gathers young leaders from around the world to develop solutions to the planet’s most pressing issues, has chosen Saviona Isaac as its Seychelles’ ambassador.

Aged 24 and working as a documentation assistant at the National Assembly, Ms Isaac has explained that she has been chosen for the position as a recognition for her involvement in the fight against drugs in the Care (Committee for Awareness, Resilience and Education) Club and her contribution to the National Assembly’s Women Parliamentarians Committee.

To be named ambassador, she had to make a formal application to ‘One Young World’ and also write an essay on one of the challenges facing the world today. Her chosen topic was the drugs situation in Seychelles.

‘One Young World’ stages an annual summit in a different world city where delegates from charities, non-governmental organisations, corporations and universities are joined by world leaders. The last was held in Thailand from November 17-21, 2014 where global issues such as women’s rights, domestic violence and education were discussed.

Ms Isaac was part of the delegates from 196 countries and she addressed them on the dangers of climate change and its effect on Small Island Developing States (Sids) like Seychelles.
The next ‘One Young World’ summit will take place in Canada next year.
