First ever Seychelles Band Festival a roaring success |02 October 2015

The first Seychelles Band Festival that was held last weekend has been hailed a “roaring success”.

For the first time 33 bands performed live at the mini-stadium in Victoria, starting at 6pm on Saturday and going on right through 6am on Sunday.

The Seychelles Band Festival was an opportunity for bands that have been inactive for so many years, those that perform in hotels and those that are often on the music scene, to amaze some 3,000 devoted fans.

The brainchild of the biggest band show in Seychelles was no other than our famous comedian Joseph Sinon.

“For the first ever Seychelles Band Festival everything went according to plan; all 33 bands that came down to take part in the biggest show ever in Seychelles were able to overcome the exhaustion. There were around 3,000 spectators at the show and that made it a success,” Mr Sinon said.

He added that the organisers are thinking about hosting a second one next year.

“To produce such an amazing and artistic show we need all the help we can get financially. We are thinking that next year we take it to another level but for that to be possible we need all the help we can get, because a show like this costs a lot,” he noted.

Berno Cedras from the band Leko said that the Seychelles Band Festival was a good initiative from the organisers.

“There are many bands in Seychelles but we sometimes we don’t hear them perform or they are dormant. The show was an opportunity for them to come out and amaze the crowd with their skills. The outcome came out to be a successful show; probably more bands should have been present,” he added.

He said that the more musicians are together the more unity there is in the music industry.

“The Seychelles Band Festival brought so many talented artists together to perform; it brought us closer together and made us more unite,” he added.

Jimmy Savy from the band Waves was amazed by the number of bands which gave everything they had to make the show a success.

“It was history in the making, so many bands performing live on stage, all giving a good show. It really takes hard work and determination to put up such a show,“ he observed.
