Deenu memorial bus shelter inaugurated |29 July 2015

A new bus shelter was opened on Quincy Street last Saturday to commemorate the first remembrance anniversary of K.D Pillay, better known as Deenu.

It was the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Transport Joel Morgan who officially unveiled the plaque to mark the inauguration of the bus shelter in the presence of Designated Minister Vincent Meriton, members of the Lions Club of Paradise Seychelles, family members and friends of Mr Deenu.

Minister Morgan said the bus shelter looks very nice and will serve a lot of people every day.

He said he was appreciative of the fact that the family is following Mr Deenu’s legacy in terms of improving the facilities and general life of the people in Seychelles.

The minister expressed his sincere thanks on behalf of the government to all the members of the family and said he looks forward to working on future projects that will benefit our community.

The daughter of Mr Deenu, Karpagam Senthil Kumar, said his father was fond of his social commitment towards the society and as part of such commitments, it was his plan to have a bus shelter on Quincy Street which he had noticed was lacking while passing by every day.

“It is our family’s commitment now to execute one of his dreams and we have managed to do it on his first remembrance anniversary which is today,” she said. “This is just the beginning of executing my dad’s unfulfilled dreams and plans towards the society,” she added.

Ms Kumar conveyed special thanks on behalf of her family to all those who in one way or another have contributed towards the successful realisation of the project.
