2015 ‘Bring It On’ talent show - Emilie Esparon, Brigitte Marie and Shayenne Ernesta excel |27 July 2015

Emilie Esparon, Brigitte Marie and Shayenne Ernesta are the winners of this year’s ‘Bring It On’ talent show which took place at the International Conference Centre on Saturday.

‘Bring It On’ talent show was officially launched in a Youth Empowerment seminar that the Everlasting Love Ministry (ELM) hosted in April 2014 as part of its project to reach out to the youth of Seychelles.

The second ‘Bring It On Talent show was launched on May 27, 2015. This year 62 young people registered for the competition and the panel of judges included the head judge Christopher Philoe, Linda Elisabeth and Jimmy Savy.

The categories remain the same -- from 12-19 years, 20-35 years, but however this year the duo/group was removed to make place for the open category which includes original songs.

Emilie Esparon, aged 15, won first place in the 12-19 years category with the song ‘Who am I’ and ‘Holy captivated’. She said that the preparation was challenging but she did manage to make new friends.

“They were very nice and encouraging, they helped me a lot,” she said.

She also noted that it was her parents who persuaded her to come forward to glorify the lord.

Her runner up is Agnielle Boniface and in third place is Saffia Robert.

In the category 20-35 years Brigitte Marie won with the songs ‘Breath on us’ and ‘My tribute’, followed by Ianne Celestine in second place  and Fatima Traore third.

Brigitte, who was not expecting to win, was grateful to the Lord and the judges for what she has accomplished.

“It was tough as other contestants have their own talent and different style, so you couldn’t really tell who would win,” she said.

As for the open category Shayenne Ernesta clinched first place with her original song ‘Ed mon fleri’ while Savio Ragain, being the only male in the finals, came in second with the song ‘Everlasting Love’. Mary Moncherry, who came out third, sang ‘Great is our Lord’, a song composed by her mother.

A very happy Shayenne said: “I’m thrilled because I loved my song which was unique.”

She added that her past situations inspired her to compose this song along with the help of God.

She also pointed out that she wants to keep singing in the future.

The contestants each received a shield, a certificate, flowers, laptops, school materials among other gifts funded by various sponsors.

New this year was the Shekinah music gospel award which was awarded to Jean Ally, a music icon who since 1993 has been devoting his life to the Lord.

Jean Ally, accompanied by his daughter, then wowed the audience with a glorifying gospel medley.

Other stunning performances were presented by a local crew called ‘Prop dil’ and also a surprise artist named Jenkins Kheejoo- King.

The show ended with the contestants singing the theme song ‘To the Glory of God’.

The auspicious occasion was attended by the Minister for Social Affairs, Community Development and Sports Vincent Meriton, secretary of state in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Transport Barry Faure, Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation’s (SBC) chief executive Antoine Onezime, among other guests and sponsors.
