Tanzanian parliamentary delegation on fact-finding mission |30 May 2015

As part of a study tour on deep sea fishing in Seychelles, a large delegation comprising over twenty members of the Parliament of the United Republic of Tanzania, paid a courtesy visit to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Transport, Joël Morgan yesterday morning at Maison Quéau de Quinssy.

Minister Morgan engaged with the Tanzanian parliamentarians on a wide array of issues and sought to deepen the existing relations between the two nations.

Minister Morgan, who in the past held the portfolio for fisheries, welcomed the delegation who expressed their desire to learn first hand the experience Seychelles has had in establishing its framework in the fisheries sector.

Although the core focus of the visit was information gathering and sharing of the fisheries sector, Minister Morgan remarked that the two nations’ cooperation could move far beyond fisheries.
He noted other avenues of collaboration in both the public sector and through the countries’ respective chambers of commerce.

Minister Morgan, who is also the transport minister, played an instrumental role in realising biweekly direct flights to Dar es Salaam.

The delegation mentioned that one way to ensure the continued commercial viability of the weekly flights would be through the importation of fresh produce and meat from Tanzania.
