Jj Spirit Foundation signs MoU with Indonesia’s industry ministry |04 May 2015



The Jj Spirit Foundation has signed an memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Industry of Indonesia for technical assistance and support for small and medium industries development for the young entrepreneurs of the foundation.

The aim of the MoU is to empower small and medium industries, with exchanges between young people in Indonesia and Seychelles and to create a bridge of partnership between the two countries as well as improving their competitiveness in global markets.

Under the MoU the Jj Spirit Foundation will receive the following benefits:

• Exchange of information about small and medium industry in various fields  such as handicraft, fashion, textile, agriculture and fishery;
• Technical assistance and capacity building activities;

 • Exchanges and internship of officials and youth between Indonesia and Seychelles;

• Provision of machinery, equipment and tools to expedite the realisation of competitive and quality small and medium industry products;

• Encouraging and facilitating business-to-business cooperation for small and medium industries.

The MOU was signed by Euis Saedah, director general of the Small Medium Industry of the Republic of Indonesia and Lise Bastienne, chairperson of the Jj Spirit Foundation.  

The ceremony was witnessed by members and management staff of the foundation and other representative of the Indonesian delegation.

The signing of the MoU signifies the commitment that the Jj Spirit foundation has in its aim to empower young people and develop their entrepreneurial skills.

It is good to note that more than 200+ small entrepreneurs of the foundation have so far benefitted from micro credit schemes to start up their business.
 
As part of the visit, Ms Saedah gave a talk to young aspiring entrepreneurs and shared her experiences on small and medium industry in small islands, especially the way  it has contributed to the Indonesian economy.
 
She informed the delegates that there is a lot of opportunities for businesses but they have to explore and be innovative in what they do and how they develop their business ideas.
