Seychellois students wow Chinese public at Guangzhou travel fair |28 March 2015

Seychellois students in China proudly showcased the local traditional sega and moutya dance to the public during the weekend public days of the Guangzhou International Travel Fair (GITF) held from March 6-8.

“It makes us proud to be able to share our culture, showcase our country and help to promote Seychelles as a destination to the Chinese people together with STB (Seychelles Tourism Board) and the great efforts that are being put into this massive market,” said the students.

The four Seychellois students – Sandra Victor, Juliette Zelime, Darrel Antat, Reggie Ah-Kong from Beijing – attracted many visitors to the Seychelles stand at the fair to take photos and share on their wechat & weibo, the main social networks in China.

“Crowds gathered by the hundreds each time and were very impressed and intrigued by both the traditional music and choreography put together by those talented, but young performers. Culture is one main aspect that the Chinese clientele are looking for in a destination and by just giving the potential visitors a taste of what our rich and vivid traditional dance had to offer, only drew more attention and questions on how to visit our beautiful archipelago,” said Jean-Luc Lai-Lam, STB’s manager in China.
