SHKS celebrates 30th anniversary - Large crowd attends musical concert |27 March 2015

A special grand musical programme was organised by the Seychelles Hindu Kovil Sangam to commemorate its 30th anniversary of existence in Seychelles.

Held on March 15 at the International Conference Centre (ICCS), the show by Indian play back singer Vijay Prakash, celebrity singer Anitha, anchor Priyanga and the 19 members of the Lakshman Sruthi orchestra, was attended by Tourism and Culture Minister Alain St Ange, Home Affairs Minister Charles Bastienne, Indian High commissioner to Seychelles Sanjay Panda, acting Chief Justice Durai Karunakaran and other distinguished guests.

The function started with the lighting of the lamp by women of the Indian community.
Association chairman Veera Pandiyan Pillay said the SHKS is the organisation promoting the Hindu religion and culture in Seychelles for 30 years now. He also expressed his sincere thanks to all the religious and cultural activists who have made this great achievement possible and also mentioned that the growing community should continue to promote and uphold the Hindu faith and culture.

Mr Pillay noted that the SHKS should continue taking part in national events and use the occasions to showcase its rich and diverse heritage and promote peace and goodwill in the country.

Vijay Prakash and the other artists also performed devotional melodious songs on Monday March 16 in the temple hall at Quincy Street.
The SKHS executive committee presented souvenir gifts to all the artists.
