Zambian singing sensation promises to wow Seychelles audience |27 March 2015

Zambian superstar Mirriam Mukape, fondly known as Mampi, arrived in Seychelles yesterday afternoon ahead of her live performance tomorrow at the International Conference Centre (ICCS).

Mampi will perform during the Airtel Music Awards where she will be accompanied by local band Zenith.
After the show at the ICCS she will wow the crowd at an after-party at the Tequila Boom discotheque.

A press conference was organised at the Airtel head office at Providence to welcome Mampi.

Present at the press conference were the producer of Airtel Music Awards, Terry Carolla; the managing director of Seychelles Breweries Ltd, Patricia Berthelot; the managing director of Airtel, Amadou Dina; and Mampi’s manager Victoria Chembre.

Mr Dina recalled that the Airtel Music Awards is in its third year and as such the company wanted to make it big.

Mrs Berthelot said her company, which has been a fervent supporter of local artists, was pleased to welcome Mampi to our shores.
Mampi said she was really excited to be in Seychelles.

“I Love Seychelles, it is really beautiful and amazing. I promise that the show will be explosive and fun. I am ready to entertain my fans from Seychelles,” declared the Zambian diva.

Noting that she started singing professionally when she was only 17, Mampi said with hard work and determination everything can happen.
“You need to keep pushing forward. You also need to value your culture and learn to appreciate it,” she concluded.

Mampi is one of the most popular singers in Zambia, famous for her song Walilowela and well-known among Seychellois.

Her debut album ‘Maloza’ shot her to fame and songs like the title track and ‘Portable’ made her famous. She also does some Reggae music.

The musician, known for her vocal strength, writing and dancing skills, has been making music from a young age. She started singing solo in school at the age of six.

During her stay in Seychelles she will meet local artists as well as officials of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture.
At the awards ceremony local artists like Jean-Marc Volcy, Travis, Tania, among others will also be performing.

Tickets for the Airtel Music Award ceremony are on sale at R200 apiece at the National Arts Council office, Telly’s Agency, Ray’s Music Room and Airtel Show Room.
