Seventy-one more days to go
Seventy-one more days to go before Seychelles will unite people from around the world in the heart of its capital
Victoria from April 24-26 in the Carnaval International de Victoria, which is said to be the 'carnival of carnivals'.
The countdown of the 2015 Carnaval International de Victoria was launched on Saturday during a ceremony at the Tequila Boom nightclub, Bel Ombre.
Attending the ceremony were the principal secretary for
tourism Anne Lafortune, chief executive of the Seychelles Tourism Board Sherin Naiken, sponsors and other partners.
Artists who took part in this year's carnival song competition launched by the STB were also present and the grand winner was announced and presented with prizes.
Trassy Carolla, better known as Telsy, won the first prize with her song entitled Karnaval dan Victoria, followed by Paul Reginald (Regi) and Marcus Mondon (Cusman) with Karnaval dan Sesel, while Jean-Paul Cadeau settled for third place with Nou dan karnaval.
Those who were present at the launch had the chance to hear the 2015 carnival song for the first time.
The artists who took part received certificates and a token of appreciation.
Speaking at the launch, Miss Naiken thanked the faithful sponsors of the carnival and urged others to join in this venture.
She said this year's carnival will be celebrated by reviving the first one, by reliving the dream of bringing together many cultures.
Miss Naiken added that our carnival has already established itself as being a big rendez-vous for all the different carnivals and cultures from around the globe.
“We will continue to use our carnival to send the message of peace between nations,” she added.
At the end of the ceremony, Mrs Lafortune and Miss Naiken cut a special cake to mark the fifth anniversary of the carnival.
