Vice-President Faure attends AU summit |30 January 2015
Vice-President Danny Faure will be representing President James Michel at the 24th African Union (AU) summit for heads of state and government which opens today at the AU headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The theme of the summit is ‘Year of Women’s Empowerment and Development towards Africa’s Agenda 2063’, marking the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and its Platform of Action 1995.
The overall objective of the summit will be to define strategic actions to fully support women capacity building and access to full involvement in political and economic decision-making.
The vice-president will be accompanied by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Jean-Paul Adam; Seychelles’ ambassador to Ethiopia and permanent representative of the African Union, Joseph Nourrice.
