Thai ambassador says farewell |28 January 2015

Outgoing ambassador of Thailand to Seychelles Ittiporn Boonpracong paid a farewell call on President James Michel at State House yesterday morning.

The Asian country’s diplomatic representative for Seychelles since September 2012, Mr Boonpracong said meeting President Michel was an opportunity to discuss different issues related to his mandate.

He said he is satisfied with the various achievements and with the way bilateral cooperation and relations between the two countries have improved and moved forward during the time he has been in office.

Mr Boonpracong said a lot of effort is being put into increasing Thai investment here which at present is in the tuna canning and tourism sectors.

“We are trying hard to have more Thai investors coming to Seychelles and we are also working toward concluding two important agreements namely promotion and protection of investments and avoidance of double taxation. I have very high hopes for our future cooperation and I am very happy with what has been achieved during my mandate,” Mr Boonpracong said.

“The opening of the Thai Garden in the Botanical Gardens here in May last year  with the support of the government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is a good example of a concrete symbol of our cooperation and fruitful relations and it also marked the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between our  two countries,” Mr Boonpracong said.

“Our hope is to move our relations to a higher level and we will be very happy if President Michel could consider visiting Thailand in the near future,” Mr Boonpracong said.
