Minister Morgan sends condolences to Morel family |26 November 2014

Home Affairs and Transport Minister Joël Morgan has sent his condolences to the family and friends of Damienne Morel who lost her life early on Tuesday after two men reportedly broke into her house.

"I received with great sorrow the sad news of the death of Damienne Morel. I would like to extend my deepest condolences to the family and friends, especially to the two children of Mrs Morel. As a father I do not wish this kind of agony on any children,” said Minister Morgan.

He added that more work needs to be done to make our homes and neighbourhoods a safer place.

"What happened today (Tuesday) weighed heavily on our nation's conscience. I would like to see the people responsible for this terrible act brought to justice for the family's sake, for our sake and for the sake of everyone who visits our beautiful island,” said the minister.

With a police investigation currently underway, members of the public with information on this incident are asked to call Crime-stoppers on 133. Information leading to the arrests of those responsible can be made anonymously on the Crime-stopper's police line.
