Eden Bleu Hotel opens to the sound of UB40 |20 October 2014

The Eden Bleu Hotel at the Eden Island officially opened its doors in a grand opening ceremony on Saturday.
It was Vice-President Danny Faure who cut the ribbon to officially open the hotel’s doors to its clients in the presence of high dignitaries – local as well as foreign.

The hotel which has cost above 40 million US dollars took over two years to complete. It has 87 rooms comprising a Presidential suite, luxury, deluxe and family rooms, as well as accommodation for the disabled.

Blessed by Anglican Bishop James Wong and Catholic Bishop Denis Wiehe, the hotel has a conference room that can hold 360 delegates for a conference and 260 for a banquet. The conference room also has the largest HD screen in Africa, measuring six metres by four metres.

“The pride of our hotel is the conferencing and banqueting facilities. It has three translation booths. We already have a booking for an international conference,” Eden Island executive chairman Craig Heeger told the local press.

He accompanied Vice-President Faure and distinguished guests on a private tour of the hotel and showed off the conferencing facility and the meeting room.
The price for the rooms starts from 375 euros. The hotel has already served its first client.

The guests who were present had the chance to mingle and taste the hotel food and beverages while relaxing by the pool and watching British reggae/pop band UB40 perform.

The almost two-hour show was very much appreciated by all present and the band, who was playing here for the second time after their first concert in 1990, has promised to come back again next year.
