Message from Rosemary Elizabeth, chairperson of UPF Seychelles on the occasion of International Peace Day on Sunday September 21 |20 September 2014

‘Let us give peace a chance, let us live peace’

As the world marks International Peace Day tomorrow (September 21), Universal Peace Federation Seychelles (UPF Seychelles) joins with the people of Seychelles, non-governmental organisations especially the NGO Lasosiasyon pour Promouvwar la Trankilite ek Respe’ and all ambassadors for peace  to call on everyone to observe peace day.

In her message, UPF Seychelles chairperson Rosemary Elizabeth writes:
“Have a moment of silence tomorrow to reflect on what the world can be if we all love and respect each other. The world can be at peace if men and women live at peace and reject violence.

“As the theme for this year goes ‘The Rights of the Peoples to Peace’, this right is for all men, women and children. Therefore as we commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Unites Nations General Assembly Declaration on the Rights of Peoples to Peace, let us also reaffirm our commitment to promote peace in our family, in our community and in our country; which is vital for the full enjoyment of all humanity.  Peace that is in our heart. Let’s give peace a chance, live peace and be at peace. Yes, we can live it for the sake of our family, our community and for our own sake. For that is our right and we should therefore take our responsibility to ensure we live in peace and unity. This is UPF Seychelles’ message for this year.

“Actually, we can only condemn violence against men, women especially our children if we are lovers of peace. Peace will reign when men, women love and respect each other, when husband and wife love and respect each other, when children love their parents.  That right is for you, remember we were born to be loved and to love, and we can only love and be loved when there is peace that can bring unity among us.
“May we celebrate Peace Day tomorrow in peace and unity.  Happy Peace Day to all Seychellois.”
