Message from the Soroptimist Club of Victoria on International Day of Peace |20 September 2014

‘Peace starts at home’

The International Day of Peace is celebrated on September 21 and the Soroptomist Club of Victoria has sent a message to all on this occasion.
The message reads:

“The International Day of Peace is a time for reflection when we reiterate our belief in non-violence.

“This year’s United Nations theme for the International Day of Peace is ‘The Right of Peoples to Peace’ and it focuses on the promotion of peace as a vital human right. Peace starts at home, which then radiates to the community, emanates to the society in general and shines out to the whole nation. People need peace to understand each other and to respect one another.

“The Soroptimist Club of Victoria would like to send a special message of peace to all Seychellois, asking all parents and families to pay special attentiveness to our young people as a primary duty.

In doing so, let us all condone all forms of domestic violence and sexual abuse that have haunted our country in the recent past, and let us all look at the future with confidence and hope and appreciate all the positive values in life.

“On this special International Day of Peace on Sunday September 21, let us all do a good deed to our neighbours and pledge to look after our children, for the sake of building a future of hope, justice and peace.
“May we all live in PEACE!”
