Organisers unveil list of activities for second Seychelles-India Day celebrations |15 September 2014

The second Seychelles-India Day celebrations from October 3-5 will to celebrate the friendship of two great cultures of the world – Incredible India and Paradise Seychelles – the organisers have said.

On the programme are a host of activities open to all to take part in.
The first ever Seychelles-India Day image award contest is ongoing and the organising team is looking forward to see more Seychellois, especially the youth and students, take part.

The deadline to hand in the photos taken is September 20. So take your camera, shoot pictures and e-mail them to seychellesindiaday@gamil.com.

There will also be the Seychelles-India Day badminton tournament starting on September 22 and the finals are planned for September 27 at the La Promenade Gymnasium.

The organisers have this year added a Masters category for competitors aged over 40 years old.
Everyone is welcome to take part and watch the event live.

The fun fair and food fair outside the Stad Popiler on October 3 and 4 is an event that will showcase Indian and Seychellois food and beverages stalls along with a range of fun activities for children.

There will be a wide range of food products for all tastes and age groups.
The main attraction this year will surely by the musical performance by renowned dancers and musicians from India and Seychelles during the gala night on October 4 outside the Stad Popiler.

The committee is calling on everyone to make a special effort to come and watch Bollywood stars and Seychellois artists entertain together.

Some of the Indian stars who will be performing in Seychelles are Stephen Devassy and his band, international singer Naresh Iyer, violinist and music composer Manoj George whose music is a perfect blend of Indian and western elements and combines various styles and techniques of classical and folk, Shalmali Kholgade, and award-winning playback singer Sweta Mohan.

The Seychelles-India Day event, staged for the first time last year, is a show of unity between the government of Seychelles through the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, the Indian government through the Indian high commission in Seychelles and the Indian business community.
