Twinkle Twinkle Little Star 2014: |26 July 2014

15 finalists chosen out of 116 auditioned

Finally the names of the 15 selected little stars who will take part in the 12th Twinkle Twinkle Little Star talent show are known.

They are: Anea Andoise (8 yrs); Angie Boniface (10 yrs); Samia Lablache (8 yrs); Lusca Uzice (6 yrs); Mitchella Legaie (9 yrs); Emma Naidoo (8 yrs); Teresa Adelaide (7 yrs); Joshua Valentin (10 yrs); Francesco Albert (7 yrs); Rohan D’Offay (10); Abigail August; Chloe Abrams (7 yrs); Carlos De Commarmond (10 yrs); Elka Laporte (10 yrs) and Rona Pirame (10 yrs).

The news was announced to Seychelles Nation by Bennet Accouche, producer and artistic director of this very popular show which this year will take place at the International Conference Centre on August 16 and 17 starting at 4pm on both days.

The audition started in June and 116 boys and girls coming from all districts of Seychelles tried their luck to win a slot on the show.
Four boys and 11 girls aged from four to 10 years were selected and they will sing a repertoire of local and international songs.

“The audition was tough as most of the candidates were good but we had to choose only 15,” said Mr Accouche.

“With each passing year, I am blown away by the reservoir of talent that our children possess,” added the show’s director.

This year there are three performers from Praslin – two little stars and one to perform in the special talent category. Unfortunately the candidate from La Digue had to withdraw due to an injured leg.

Mr Accouche said all this would not have happened without the support of the parents.
“I would like to thank all the parents for bringing their kids to audition and also thank them for their understanding as we cannot choose everybody even if they can sing well,” Mr Accouche said.

It is to be noted that in the past some candidates auditioned several times before getting selected.

Mr Accouche has urged members of the public to come to support our little stars so that they can shine even brighter on August 16 and 17,” said Mr Accouche.

Other than the show by the Little stars, we will once again have the opportunity to see some family performances, special talents, the National School’s choir and a surprise guest artist.

The criteria for selection were mainly that the child must have a good singing voice, should be outspoken, should be willing to perform in public and should not be older than 10 years old by August 16, 2014.

Mr Accouche has given assurances that some of those auditioned will be in next year’s show.

The Twinkle Twinkle Little Star show was first staged in November 2000 and it has been well appreciated by both children and adults.
Tickets for the August 16 and 17 shows are now on sale at Ray’s Music Room at R150.
