Police investigate two accidental deaths on Praslin |08 April 2014

The police are investigating two accidental deaths on Praslin and the victims are 24-year-old Andy Laurence and Danny Vel who is in his 40s.

Andy Laurence of Côte d’Or was found unconscious in a gutter at Côte d’Or with scratch marks all over his body and tyre mark on his belly. The incident was reported to the police at 6.30am on Sunday.

He died early Sunday afternoon in the intensive care unit of the Seychelles Hospital after being flown from Praslin on Sunday morning.

Danny Vel lost his life after he was hit on the road in the vicinity of Indian Ocean Lodge on Sunday. The police was informed of the incident at around 7pm.

Initial investigation has led the police to believe that Laurence’s death may have been a hit and run.

The police are appealing to anyone who may have information that could help solve the case to please contact the Baie Ste Anne police station or CID office.

Investigators from Mahé are already on Praslin to help with the investigations.
