June 29 Independence Day
Honouring the day the island republic obtained its independence from Great Britain, the day has been traditionally dedicated to the National Schools Athletics competition and children cme out in their multi-coloured school uniforms
August 15 Feast of the Assumption
One of the more traditional and folkloric religious feast days which honours the church of the island of La Digue. Tourists accompany residents on Mahe, Praslin and La Digue to serenade the statue of the Virgin Mary from a grotto in the rocks’ to the island’s Roman Catholic Church in the morning.
