Deadline for Ile Soleil tender today |23 January 2014
Individuals, families and businesses wishing to tender for a plot of land for residential or business purposes on Ile Soleil, the reclaimed island off Anse Aux Pins, have until today to do so.
So all interested investors are being called to hurry and place their tenders in the appropriate tender box in room Number 10 of the International Conference Centre (ICCS) before this afternoon.
According to Vision 2020, the company commissioned to market the Ile Soleil project, they are satisfied with the interest shown in buying land and constructing on Ile Soleil, and that they will respect the deadline set.
“We have to respect the deadline. We do not want Ile Soleil to be still a construction site five years from now. Ile Soleil must be a fully developed island within the next four years,” commented Barry Faure, the managing director of Vision 2020.
The costs of construction on Ile Soleil as well as contractors designated to undertake the building work have also been revealed. Vision 2020 can now provide quotations as well as the list of contractors it has selected for the realisation of the project. This has followed a long series of meetings and presentations the Ile Soleil promoters have held with potential investors, contractors as well as bankers.
Mr Faure has said that the contractors have been recommended based on the prices they have offered and more importantly on their ability to meet the construction deadline of December 2015.
Potential investors have been presented with a template which calculates the budget needed for their land and building. The template has in turn helped them elaborate their respective projects.
Mr Faure has explained that commercial banks have also been presented with the templates, as in case the promoters need financing, they must have the loan confirmation from their bank.
“We need to be given financial guarantee. So in case the client needs financing, before we consider the application we will require a letter of agreement from the bank to make sure that the client will be able to develop within the time frame. Without the letter of approval we will reject the application,” Mr Faure added.
Questioned about the challenges faced by Vision 2020 in promoting the project, Mr Faure said that as the concept is new and as the government is asking to come with funds first before providing the land, people do not realise that the cost is not only for land but also for the infrastructure and utilities as well as numerous other opportunities.
“The price of land must be put into perspective. We are offering you with the opportunity to live in a modern community where the standard of living will be higher than elsewhere in Seychelles.
By buying on Ile Soleil, you are buying quality lifestyle close to nature and also a new form of culture. Life on Ile Soleil in five years will be exciting with an enterprising 1000 strong community, employment opportunities with the creation of 250 to 500 jobs, without considering a school, hospital, promenade, children’s park, other recreational areas for skating, cycling and water sports as well as other facilities in your close vicinity,” is the message Mr Faure wishes to send to potential investors.
