Air Seychelles launches Mumbai sales drive |04 August 2008
The airline is running a media marketing and promotional drive aimed at attracting the maximum number of passengers on the weekly flights via Maldives. These form part of its strategy to return to previously operated routes.
Air Seychelles’ executive chairman, Captain David Savy, said: “The return to previous routes, together with the increase of flight frequencies, is necessary to achieve the objectives of increasing asset utilisation, meeting operational constraints, increasing productivity and enhancing revenue.
“Our return to Mumbai is in line with Strategy 2017. Air Seychelles has expansion plans for its aircraft fleet and its network of routes, India is a booming market and there is evidence of increasing travel between India and Seychelles.”
The Mumbai and Maldives routes will be added to the network from November 1. Air Seychelles previously flew to those destinations with the smaller B737-700, but this was suspended in 2005 when the aircraft was returned to the lessor under reorganisation that followed the opening of air access to Seychelles.
Maldives will be served twice weekly, with onward connections from and to Johannesburg on both services.
The Saturday service to Male will extend to Mumbai and return via the same route on the same day. The Wednesday service to Male will extend to Singapore and return via the same route, arriving back in Seychelles on Friday.
