Badminton-Eight local players for two international competitions |20 February 2006

The eight players are 2005 female and male best players Juliette Ah-Wan and Georgie Cupidon, Steve Malcouzane, Shirley Etienne, Allen Low, Ivan Leong, Danielle Jupiter and Cynthia Course.

They are accompanied by coaches Calix Francourt and Gerard Bibi.

“The Internationaux de Maurice competition is the most important of the two competitions with a number of participants coming from different countries. In this competition, we will be able to play both the singles and mixed doubles matches,” said Francourt.

The Thomas & Uber Cup, which counts for the qualifiers of the World Championship to be held in May in Japan, was to start yesterday and will end on February 23. This will be followed by les Internationaux de Maurice from February 24 to 26.

The Seychelles delegation is staying at El Monaco and the competition will be held in Rose Hill at the National Badminton Centre.

The delegation is expected back on February 27.
