New appointments to the judiciary |05 July 2005
Mr Duncan Gaswaga has been appointed to the post of Senior Magistrate whilst Mrs Laura Pillay Zelia has been appointed Magistrate.
Mr Gaswaga, a Ugandan, is a Magistrate Grade One and Enrolled Advocate of the High Court of Uganda. He holds a Bachelor of Laws as well as a post graduate diploma in Legal Practice.
Mr Gaswaga has practiced as a lawyer, lecturer and magistrate prior to being seconded to the Supreme Court of Seychelles as Magistrate in 2002.
He is married with four children.
Mrs Laura Pillay Zelia obtained a degree in Law at the University of East Anglia, UK, in July 2001. Thereafter she followed a one-year course at the College of Law in Guilford and obtained a Legal Practice Certificate. She has been working at the Attorney General’s Chambers since August 2002 and is a member of the Employment Advisory Board.
Mrs Pillay Zelia is married with one child.
