“Seychelles Princess” passes away |09 March 2005
She was buried at the Mont Fleuri cemetery on Monday.
According to historical records, King Prempeh was arrested and exiled to Seychelles in 1900. While in exile here, his son, James Boachie Prempeh, married a Seychelloise, Francoise Auguste. The couple had five children and Hugette was the eldest. She was five when King Prempeh finally left Seychelles in 1924.
At the age of 28, Hugette and her two children got the opportunity to travel to their father’s homeland, where they stayed for 28 years.
Despite her long stay in Ghana, Hugette missed her homeland so much that she decided to come back to Seychelles in 1971 while her two children preferred to stay in Ghana.
