Seychelles Breweries launches SeyPearl Pineapple soft drink |24 August 2018
SeyPearl Pineapple is the new soft drink that hit the market this week.
A new product of Seychelles Breweries Ltd., SeyPearl Pineapple was launched on Wednesday afternoon by the managing director of the company, Nick Cook, during the ‘Bazar Labrin’ at Beau Vallon.
Packed in 500ml pet bottle, the yellowish soft drink contains less than half the number of calories of a normal soft drink. Its sweetness is retained through a sweetener of natural origin - Stevia. It costs R17.00 retail prize.
This is the second low calorie product from Seychelles Breweries since the recent launch of the ‘Coke Zero’ soft drink with zero calories.
According to Mr Cook, Seychelles Breweries is responding to the Seychellois customers’ healthy lifestyle, a clientele who are becoming more mindful of their diet and wishing to manage their calorie intake.
“I think SeyPearl is a sleeping giant. It’s something we haven’t invested in properly over the years and it’s time to put it back on the map,” Mr Cook said, noting that the SeyPearl Pineapple is the company’s second innovation in the past three months and all together in over ten years.
He went on to say that the quality of the beverage and packaging is world class and more innovation products will come in future.
The launch of SeyPearl Pineapple on Wednesday was a chance for the public to taste the drink for free. Many present, including tourists and especially children, flocked inside the decorated, tropical style SeyPearl tent, mounted on the beach, for a taste. Also present were partners of Seychelles Breweries Ltd.
“It is light and not too sweet. It is tasty in the mouth. I think it’s a good product,” said Deloress Samy, a representative of Seychelles Trading Company (STC).
A passerby on the beach, Eliza Moise from Pascal Village, said: “It has a different taste than other Seychelles Breweries soft drinks, with less sugar which is good for the population. The taste is a little close to ‘Cocktail de Fruits’ but lighter and less sweet. It’s a very good innovation coming from Seychelles Breweries.”
Most of the children and tourists also liked the taste.
Matija Pisk, the innovation manager, said that the pineapple taste was chosen after good response from a customer research.
“Pineapple is a great tropical flavour. A lot of people like it and when you run into something good, everybody likes it,” he said.
SeyPearl Pineapple joins Orangeade, Cocktail de Fruits, Bitter Lemon, Ginger Ale, Tonic and Soda, a portfolio of soft drinks under the SeyPearl brand produced by Seychelles Breweries. Coca Cola, Fanta and Sprite are the other carbonated soft drinks produced by the company.
