STA and ISPC renew and strengthen partnership |06 July 2017
Catering specialist ISPC Seychelles Ltd has reaffirmed its partnership with the Seychelles Tourism Academy through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU).
The signing took place on Tuesday at the ISPC headquarters, located at the ex-SIBA building, in the presence of the Minister for Tourism, Civil Aviation, Ports and Marine Maurice Loustau-Lalanne, the principal of the Seychelles Tourism Academy (STA) Flavien Joubert, the patron of STA Claude Narain, the chairman of the STA governing board John Stravens, the principal secretary for tourism Anne Lafortune and the chief executive of ISPC Alfred Fourcroy.
The MoU was signed by Mr Fourcroy for ISPC and Minister Loustau-Lalanne on behalf of STA.
In fact the agreement is a renewal of the old one signed 10 years ago which needed to be reaffirmed because its validity had elapsed.
“It is very important to have the agreement between both parties written down and kept up-to-date for whoever wants to check on what ISPC has done for STA. Credibility and transparency is primordial and facilitates the work of the auditors and such,” Mr Joubert explained.
This signing also marked 10 years since STA’s inception on July 3, 2007.
STA has been benefiting from its alliance with ISPC through the availability of foodstuffs, beverages and equipment at cost price over the course of these past ten years.
Cost price is the price that it costs to make a product, without a profit being added and this is advantageous to STA because ISPC products and equipment help sustain their courses.
In addition STA and ISPC have, since 2009, collaborated to organise the annual National Culinary Contest, a competition which has brought many talented chefs to the forefront.
STA has also benefited with this alliance through donations from ISPC to the tourism school, wine tasting expertise from ISPC’s employees among countless other activities and ventures.
Mr Fourcroy said he hopes the partnership which exists between both parties continues to flourish for the next 10 years and more.
“Both institutions share a passion for gastronomical arts. Hence as a company specialising in quality products and equipment which are not always available in Seychelles, it is our prerogative to support and encourage innovation and creativity,” he said.
In doing so ISPC hopes to foster dedicated and proficient tourism professionals of the highest caliber which will benefit the tourism sector in Seychelles.
This is a sentiment likewise shared by STA’s principal Mr Joubert.
“We have gained a lot from this partnership. As ISPC expands so does its help to STA and for this we are genuinely grateful,” Mr Joubert said.
Mr Joubert urged his students to put the items provided to them by ISPC to good use as they are very lucky to be the beneficiary of a company specialised in the most credible materials, food and beverages in the Seychelles.
