Maison Esplanade brings added value to Victoria |01 July 2017
Maison Esplanade, the new building located adjacent to the Nouvobanq House in the heart of Victoria, was officially opened yesterday by the President of the Republic, Danny Faure.
The building is owned by Laxion Holdings Seychelles and was constructed by Laxambhai & Company Seychelles, also owned by Laxion Holdings Seychelles.
The new building has been described as an added value in the capital of Seychelles. It has been earmarked as a commercial centre with two tenants already confirmed – the Al Salam Bank Seychelles originating from Bahrain and the State National Bank of Mauritius. Other offices will come in later.
Laxcon Holdings already has two residential buildings at Mont Fleuri, Raghwani Residency at Les Mamelles, office block at the Botanical Gardens also at Mont Fleuri and now Maison Esplanade.
Also present at the opening were Vice-President Vincent Meriton and other ministers; Speaker of the National Assembly, Patrick Pillay; leader of the opposition in the National Assembly, Wavel Ramkalawan and other MNAs, as well as dignitaries of the company, the new tenants and government officials.
It was Joshina Raghwani, daughter of the owners Ravji Prenji Raghwani (father) and mother Ramila Ravji Raghwani, who had the honour to address the invitees.
“Each of the realistic design and features act as proof of our continued commitment to the socio-economic growth of Seychelles,” said Ms Raghwani.
She added Laxmanbhai & Company has pioneered the construction industry in Seychelles and it was established in 1973 by her grandfather Premji Kesra Raghwani. He built the first iconic hotel in Seychelles, the Mahé Beach Hotel at Port Glaud.
“I thank him for establishing the foundation for our continued success here in Seychelles,” she said.
Speaking on behalf of the government, Charles Bastienne, Minister for Habitat, Infrastructure and Land Transport, made reference to the Fiennes Esplanade where Maison Esplanade is located as a cultural heritage which we have to preserve at all cost.
“However as an open minded nation, we also embrace modernity,” he said.
“This new development clearly shows that modernity and tradition are not contradictory or exclusive, but can perfectly blend and interact in harmony,” he said.
He remarked all these developments are in line with the Victoria Master Plan, which aims at providing high quality office space to support the long-term development of the financial services which provide the anchor and opportunity to create new business ventures in the city.
Mr Bastienne said in addition, the forthcoming redevelopment of the Pirates Arms building will further enhance the vicinity, bringing entertainment and restaurants, providing additional activities for both our people and visitors.
Representatives from the Catholic, Anglican and Hindu faiths were also present to bless the new building.
