Felicita Filippin crowned Miss Regatta 2016 |03 October 2016

Twenty-one-year-old Felicita Filippin won the Miss Reggata title against 10 other equally dashing and talented girls on Saturday October 1, 2016.

Felicita is from Baie Lazare just like her predecessor, Emily Albest, who has been holding the title for the past year.

After parading on the catwalk in casual, swimwear and evening wear and answering questions from the jury, Felicita Filippin, a field research assistant with the Marine Conservation Society of Seychelles (MCSS), won the pageant and the Best Bikini Body.

She has a passion for the ocean as she enjoys scuba diving and swimming.

Felicita walked away with an Air Seychelles return ticket to any destination, a bikini sponsored by Ipanema, X-trim gym membership, weekend at The H Hotel, dinner at Del Place restaurant, cash prize, certificate of participation and bouquets of flowers.

Estelle Morel, 19, was voted first princess and Best Evening gown while Verona Leon, 26, clinched the second princess title and Miss Personality.

They both received gym membership, cash prizes, two-night stay at The H Hotel and certificate of participation.

Tania Panagary won Miss Photogenic while Stasia Lafortune from Praslin won the People’s Choice Award.

This year’s Regatta fundraising event is the 43rd hosted by Round Table Seychelles (RTS) and powered by Takamaka.

After being crowned, Felicita said her heart was pounding in her chest with excitement and happiness.

“With regard to my role as an ambassador for RTS I will attend all events organised by the organisation and try my best to be an inspiration to everyone,” she said.

After the show, the coordinator and organiser of the pageant, Carol Benoition, described this year’s Miss Regatta contest as “perfect!”

She said preparing for the event was intense but she could manage since she has worked with pageants such as Miss Seychelles 2006, 2007 and 2008.

“It was okay but you need a lot of patience with the girls. Above all it’s worth it for the two and a half months of training,” she said.

One fewer contestant was observed in the pageant and commenting on her absence, Ms Benoition said she was still in school so they had to let her go.
