Diplomatic Spouses’ Association donates to Au Cap school |14 March 2014
One now has a much more comfortable feeling when one enters the classroom reserved for deaf students at the Au Cap primary school.
And surely the learning atmosphere is now much better for the small group of eight children studying there and their teachers.
The kids may not be treated to daily red carpet teaching, but the floor’s now sky blue colour and smoothness will surely contribute to a more cosy and relaxed environment.
This after the school has installed a new carpet on the classroom floor, gift of the Diplomatic Spouses’ Association (DSA).
Members of the organisation officially handed over the carpet to the school yesterday morning, in a sympathetic ceremony attended by the Minister for Education Macsuzy Mondon, chairperson of the Association of People with Hearing Impairment (Aphi) Anita Gardner, Au Cap school head teacher Fatima Agathine, other members of the association, teachers and students.
The students responded to the kind gesture with a song for the invitees and by offering the diplomats’ wives a picture of their classroom which they had specially painted for the occasion.
The chairperson of the DPA, Lalnunkimi Darlong, said that the association was thankful to Au Cap school for having given them the opportunity to take part in this form of charity although as she said, “in a small way”.
She also thanked the different companies who have made this possible by making contributions to the DSA.
