Grand Anse Mahé gets own business centre |06 January 2014

Residents of the western part of Mahé can now avoid the long journey to town for commodities and services such as timber, electronic and household goods, construction materials, ATM service, shopping and refuelling their vehicles.

Facilities providing such services and goods are now open and functioning at the Grand Anse Mahé petrol station depot.

The facilities, all run by private sectors, are conveniently situated at the busy junction of Grand Anse Mahé connecting the districts of Anse Boileau, Barbarons on the way to south Mahé; Grand Anse, Beolière, Port Glaud  on the way to Port Launay; and La Misère road on the way to town.

“These facilities are very much welcome and needed in the district as they will benefit not only people in the west of Mahé but all those passing by in need of such services,” said Grand Anse district administrator Raymonde Benstrong.

The Grand Anse Mahé service station, operated by LEFair Company Limited, has its own provision shop adjacent to it where customers can buy any type of oil and other products for their vehicles or vehicle parts or for other related equipment like grass cutters. Products like dashboard set carpet cleaner; gear oil, wheel and tire cleaner, automatic transmission fluid, foaming engine degreaser, tires, gear knob covers, oil filter are available among the lot. Gas cylinders for the home are also available at the Grand Anse petrol station.

Consumers can also do their shopping while at the Grand Anse service station as Shop Rite, a recently opened mini-market, has everything for the family. Very good quality goods -- from groceries, juices, breads, biscuits, spices and sauces to a variety of packed frozen meat and fish -- are available there. E-top service from the main telecommunication companies can also be done at Shop Rite.

If you run out of cash while there or need extra money to buy your needs, customers need not go down town for cash withdrawal. An ATM service machine located near Shop Rite is there to solve the problem. The service is run by Nouvobanq.

The popular electronic brand SAMSUNG has reached the west of Mahé with a new shop at the same premises at Grand Anse.  Specialising in the sale of home appliances and accessories, SAMSUNG Grand Anse is equipped with all the electronic and household goods as in its other town shops. One can buy washing machines, air conditions, mobile phones, refrigerators, flat screens, microwave, freezers, digital cameras, fans, irons  etc… in a cool and spacious environment.

Adjacent to the electronic shop is a construction materials outlet also run by the same management of SAMSUNG electronics. High-quality paint and varnish brands like Dulux are stocked alongside our local Penlac brand. Also available are products like ready-made doors and tiles machines. Electrical spare parts like fuses, adaptors, extensions also form part of the variety of items available at the shop.

A timber processing factory known as the icon of Grand Anse Mahé due to its number of years in existence at such location, is still there today. It has run through various changes during the course of its existence. Called Island Timber nowadays, it still has the same core mission of producing wood products and related accessories. Apart from cutting or manufacturing the timber to your required sizes, specifications and needs, Island Timber, which also has a warehouse facility, also offers a delivery service to your place. Island Timber has a team of young workers but with skillful knowledge in wood handling.
